John Wood Dunn
JOHN W. DUNN. John has been an attorney for over forty years but, far from slowing down, is known for his daily jogs around Avon's Nottingham Lake and finished the New York City Marathon in 2009. An Illinois native, he graduated from New York University School of Law, served as a law clerk for the United States Court of Appeals in the First Circuit for a year and then came west to the mountains he had grown to love during his college years. After "basic training" in a large Denver firm, he associated with another attorney in Leadville and lived and practiced in that mining community for 15 years. Since 1981, he has lived and practiced law in the Vail Valley, focusing on real estate and land use. John also has a strong background in local government law, having served as County Attorney of Lake County from 1971 until 1993 and as Town Attorney of the Town of Avon from 1980 until 1998 and from 2001 until 2008. He has been President of the Colorado County Attorneys' Association and has chaired the Municipal Attorneys' Section of the Colorado Municipal League. And, he is very proud to have served as President of the Colorado Bar Association in 1993-94.
